Some of the many amazing blessings from Jesus Christ.

We cannot even begin to wrap our minds around all of the amazing blessings that Jesus has earned for you through His sacrifice on the cross. One verse in the Bible that refers to three powerful blessings for you is Romans 3:25 that says, “God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.” This verse says that Jesus offered His body as a sacrificial lamb for your “atonement”. Surprisingly, packed into this one word are three of the greatest blessings for humanity that go beyond your greatest imagination.

The word “atonement” is actually a term that an English translator and Christian martyr William Tyndale invented to translate the original Greek word of the Bible. If you look at the word closely, you will discover its meaning – at-one-ment. By Jesus’ death on the cross and through your faith in Jesus as your Savior, you are made “at one” with God. That is, even though you were once separated from God and an enemy of His because of your offenses against Him, you have been reconciled to Him by the sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God. Now, instead of being God’s enemy, you are His beloved son or daughter whom God will always have the greatest love and affection for. This is an amazing eternal blessing that we should never take for granted.

A second blessing for you that is conveyed by the single word “atonement” also flows from the meaning of the original Greek word hilastarion. In fact, many Bibles translate the word as “propitiation”. God presented Christ as the propitiation for your sins. In this sense, Jesus satisfied the wrath of God that you deserved for you. Even though you were guilty of many sins while Jesus was unblemished and sinless, He offered Himself as the scape goat and sacrificial lamb. He suffered the eternal punishment that you actually deserved. By Jesus’ work of propitiating the eternal punishment on your behalf, you are now declared as “righteous” and “not guilty” for all of eternity. You are, in fact, a saint (i.e. someone who is sinless and forgiven in the sight of the holy Judge). This is also an eternal blessing that every true Christian grows in gratitude for. It should never be something that we take for granted or become old news to us. It should actually become more meaningful to you as you grow in maturity in the Lord. After all, only those who are saints will be welcomed into God’s eternal paradise in heaven.

A third blessing from Jesus’ sacrifice that we often overlook is the healing that He provides for those who have been saved. Once you are saved, you will certainly receive the fulfillment of God’s promise of beautiful heaven once this life is over. However, the blessings of eternal life are not just for the future. They begin as soon as you place your faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins. From the moment you trust in Jesus as your Savior, He begins to give you the healing that you need. Whether your struggle is with anxiety, depression, loneliness, fear, PTSD, or any other issue, becoming one with God allows for you to have complete healing from all those afflictions. His atonement through Jesus Christ allows for the replacement of your emotional brokenness with complete contentment, peace, wholeness, and joy. In fact, it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that you will receive the healing and wholeness that you need. In addition, every weakness of yours that persists throughout this lifetime on earth will only be used by God in very powerful and special ways to help you in your faith in Him because of His work of atonement. This also is a great reason to grow in our gratitude for Jesus’ amazing sacrifice on the cross. We must never forget that Jesus’ atonement provides us with blessings and power for this life and the life to come.
